Ok, for my third installation of explaining my art, I give you a diptych. A diptych in photography is "a combination of two images placed immediately next to each other to make an artistic statement or comparison."
Sorry I didnt post last week. I struggled with my startrails shoot more than I expected. They turned out bad, and Im not sure why. There was lightening flashing and it may have thrown my lighting off. Dammit. If I figure it out Ill post them on IG/FB
So I disappeared again. But this time I went on an epic adventure, or adventures. I planned it out last year, not very well, I didn't mean them to be so close together, but I wasn't really looking at dates. I just new I needed to get out and get some dopamine.
You might have seen some of these on FB and IG already, but some have been cropped here.
Covid got me. I think its gotten me before, I just never bothered to test myself. The whole world was on lockdown, so it didn't seem to matter. But now my regular job has started going back in person so I needed to know, and yup, it got me.
Yesterday was my last day of isolation, but I tested negative, so I headed out to a photo shoot/hike with my old friend Bob, his girl, and his fur baby.
This is on my list of dream jobs. Being a music photographer. It requires equipment that I don't have, but I plunk around and do my best. This time was the closest I got because my friend is a journalist and she got me a press pass!
Me and a couple photo buddies are going to meander around the Eastern Sierra for several days. I'm writing this on Friday, so by the time you see this I'll have been gone for a 4 days already! Check IG and FB, if I have reception I'll be posting.
I went to Bellingham to visit a friend of mine who moved there not to long ago. Open the post to see her picture. We hiked ALOT, and she took me to see art and culture stuff. Then she mentioned this abandoned graffiti shipwreck, and off we went!
World Goth Day was fun. GReaT people watching, some people really brought it. I tried to do my part, but I'm more of a punk than a goth. Anyhoo, the SS Hornet was pretty cool, and I'd like to go back for a tour. I heard they sometimes have a haunted house on board!!! 👻
Spring is here, weather is weird. But I did a show last weekend for the art and plant sale at ACCI Gallery. I gathered all my art related images together. Ive never grouped my art in this way before, it was interesting.

In this limited edition series I experience beauty. I've tried to make beauty a constant factor in my life. It's necessary for my mind, body, and soul. I've always been an artist, or creative at heart. My dad taught me the beauty of flowers and gardening. The colors, smells, textures, and warmth of the sun. But I was drawn to city life. I love the decay, grime, chaos, and the butter icing on the top is the graffiti. The colors, textures, and immersion if it's truly great. It moves me. I stumbled upon the beauty of combining these two. It is very powerful for me, combining my two worlds in beauty, and the culmination of my journey.
Wow, what a wild ride! I was a little rusty from my previous ventures into show season, and it's not over yet! As will see in my post, my booth setup needs a little work, I haven't figured out how to personalize it yet. BTW Im open to ideas!
Certain places exist in a kind of urban vacuum. They decay, change and grow without the approval of authorities, and without blueprints. These places are often the domain of society’s marginalized, places where the homeless, bored teenagers, and those who simply wish to play and create without oversight can congregate.
I love Valentines Day. I love the candy and sweets, the shameless mass expressions of love, and did I mention the sweets and candy? But the punk in me is still thrilled by the flip side, the sweet pain of heartache. The black heart has so much deliciously dark history and meaning. The veins of poison running through the sweet red apple. Dark magic.
One of my favorite places to get source material is in abandoned buildings. It kind of feels like your on a treasure hunt in unknown lands. The anticipation is what I imagine spelunkers feel hoping for crystal encrusted stalagmites and stalactites.
